Chemka Hot Springs Day Trip (Kikuletwa)

Chemka Hot Springs, also known as Kikuletwa, consist of several small lakes filled with warm, crystal-clear waters created by geothermally heated groundwater. Located in the village of Rundugai, between Arusha and Moshi, near the town of Boma Ng’ombe, the drive from Arusha takes about 2.5 hours.

The Hot Springs are ideal for swimming, and for the adventurous, there’s a rope swing. You can also enjoy a free fish pedicure as small fish gently nibble at your feet. The Springs are surrounded by a lush green forest with ancient fig trees, accompanied by birdsong and the occasional call of monkeys. In some areas, the waters reach depths of up to 10 meters, so caution is advised for non-swimmers.

We will pick you up from your Arusha hotel in the early morning and drive to the Springs. After leaving the main Arusha-Moshi road, you’ll travel along a scenic winding road that provides a glimpse into Tanzanian village life. Once at the Springs, you’re free to spend the next few hours as you please—swimming, sunbathing, reading, or simply enjoying the unique surroundings. A picnic lunch is provided, which you can enjoy in the shade by the Springs at your leisure.

After a relaxing day, you’ll return with your Tour Tamu African Safaris Guide to your hotel in Arusha in time for dinner.

Cost: USD 90 per person (for groups larger than two, please ask your Safari Consultant for a quote).
